KALVIN PHILLIPS: The Marcelo Bielsa decision that paved the way
When Marcelo Bielsa took charge of Leeds United, he had several decisions to make.
One of the big ones he made ended up paving the way for Kalvin Phillips to become the player he is today.
It was a choice between selling one of the club's two young midfielders and Phillips was the man who stayed.
On the other side, Ronaldo Vieira was allowed to leave Elland Road and sign for Sampdoria.
The Bremner Square podcast lads took a look at this deal on this week's episode and reflected in hindsight.
On reflection, Phillips has become an integral part of this team and they miss him massively when he isn't available.
Whereas Vieira, undoubtedly talented, has failed to live up to expectation.
Sampdoria bought him in 2018 - just one year after he signed a long term deal at Leeds.
The fee was believed to be in the region of £7million as Sampdoria aimed to replace the outgoing Lucas Torreira.
However, after just two seasons, he was sent on loan to fellow Serie A side Hellas Verona.
The deal included an option to buy, so it's safe to say things have not gone to plan for Vieira.
