NEWS ROUNDUP: COVID-19 Update and NHS worker ’s plea
At time of recording, as COVID-19 infection rates continue to fall across Yorkshire, the rate in Leeds has fallen to 166.2 per 100,000 people, down from 208.9. Rotherham has the highest rate in Yorkshire at 215.9 per 100,000, with Bradford next at 207.5.
An NHS worker has joined the drive to encourage members of the city’s diverse communities to come forward and have their vaccine when invited to do so after seeing his mum get protected. Ali Aslam who works for the NHS, has issued the plea after his mum, Safoora received her vaccination at the end of January at her local vaccination clinic run by GPs in Leeds. Mrs Aslam, who is 65, is registered as clinically extremely vulnerable so is in one of the groups currently being invited for vaccines.
