NEWS ROUNDUP: West Yorkshire Prepared & Welcome to Yorkshire statements
The region’s Local Resilience Forum ‘West Yorkshire Prepared’ is urging caution and asking everyone to continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19. While some restrictions are being relaxed from the 8th of March, they’ve highlighted that West Yorkshire is still experiencing higher than average infection rates.
‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ Chief Executive James Mason has warned that, “Many businesses, particularly in hospitality, may not find a way through the latest restrictions, if they cannot open before summer and further financial support is not forthcoming.” Whilst ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ acknowledges there are merits in the latest announcements, the destination management organisation will be lobbying on behalf of the tourism sector, for a clear plan from the Government to offer and outline crucial economic support for businesses.
