NEWS ROUNDUP: Business support and new city centre development
Leeds City Council has announced details of additional funding support to help local businesses ride out COVID-19 financial challenges. A grant scheme has reopened which will help businesses with property costs and support grants for businesses forced to close will continue until March the 31st.
Plans for nearly 800 flats to be built on an a former industrial site near Leeds city centre have been approved. The concreted site on the corner of Whitehall Road and Globe Road is expected to home eight buildings between 8 and 23 storeys high, which will include 783 flats and commercial units.
A milestone has been hit on the Connecting Leeds Headrow scheme as the first trees have been planted on Dortmund Square. The semi-mature trees are the first of over 30 due to be planted across the scheme.
