NEWS ROUNDUP: Simon Brown’s 874 mile challenge
02/03/21
A war hero who was blinded after being shot in the face during a rescue mission to save six stranded men in Iraq will walk the equivalent of the length of Britain for charity.
Simon Brown has embarked on a 874 mile walk to raise funds for Blind Veterans UK who helped him rebuild his life after he thought his ‘future was gone’.
The veteran has set off on the epic journey with best friends Dan Roberts, Tom Kaye and Roy Wilson. He hopes to walk 28 miles each week in order to complete the distance in 69 days, finishing on VE Day on May 8.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, they’ll be walking the equivalent distance between Land’s End and John o’ Groats in the Morley area of Leeds.
