NEWS ROUNDUP: Leeds to home infrastructure bank
04/03/21
Leeds City Council and the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership have welcomed the news that Leeds will be the home of the country’s first-ever infrastructure bank.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has said the bank will invest in public and private projects across the UK and it will aim to drive the Government’s plans for a ‘green industrial revolution’ while also supporting local and regional economic growth.
Education experts in Leeds have warned that young children from disadvantaged backgrounds are being unfairly impacted by the Covid-19 lockdown.
A meeting of Leeds city councillors also heard how referrals for young people’s mental health services have risen since the start of the lockdown, while households with parents working low-income jobs have not been able to spend as much time together as families.
