UGLY GAME: Everton know what to expect against Burnley

Carlo Ancelotti should be relatively aware of what to expect when Everton host Burnley on Saturday.

Burnley are known to be difficult opposition with an emphasis on their physicality to be expected.

For Everton, the top four is still a realistic ambition and a win here will be vital on that front.

They're four points behind Chelsea who currently occupy the final Champions League spot after they beat Everton 2-0 in midweek.

Although Ancelotti's side do have a game in hand on them which, if both continue to win, will cut the gap to a point.

Recent form

Everton have lost four of their last six home league games, which is as many as they had in their last 22 at Goodison.

Their last home game was a home win against Southampton, so they'll hope they can kickstart some decent home form in the quest for European football.

Against Burnley, they've won five of their last six league games at home, which works out at an 83% win rate.

Five of Burnley's last seven league games have been draws - all of which have been at Turf Moor.

However, they haven't drawn an away game in the league in six, with two wins and four defeats.

Everton v Burnley pre-match

Ancelotti confirmed that Everton would have Tom Davies, Seamus Coleman and Yerry Mina available for selection.

On a less positive note, Abdoulaye Doucoure will miss up to 10 weeks however with a fractured foot.

He joins Fabian Delph, James Rodriguez and potentially Gylfi Sigurdsson on the injury list.

Looking ahead to the game, the Everton boss had kind words to say about Burnley and their style of play.

They come in for some criticism from rival fans due to their traditional, old-fashioned ways, but it's undoubtedly brought them success.

The Everton boss recognised this and praised Burnley manager Sean Dyche ahead of the match.

"I like the style of play of Burnley," Ancelotti said. "Why? Because they play clear 4-4-2, I was born with 4-4-2!"

"He's [Dyche] a good guy. They are not inventing new football, because football was already invented a long time ago!

Everton host Burnley at Goodison with kick-off at 5.30 pm on Saturday.
