GOOD POINT: Fans praise Meslier after Leeds hold Chelsea

Leeds United ended a run of one win in five games with a solid defensive display to draw 0-0 with Chelsea at Elland Road.

The visitors are unbeaten under new manager Thomas Tuchel but Marcelo Bielsa’s side more than matched them throughout the 90 minutes.

Illan Meslier starred in goal for the whites as the young French keeper is quickly making a name for himself in the Premier League.

Leeds looked a lot more defensively sound than they have done in previous games and they managed to shut out one of the league’s most creative sides.

Kai Havertz started up front for the visitors but the German was unable to inflict the same damage Olivier Giroud managed when the two sides met at Stamford Bridge.

Outstanding

On the latest edition of The Bremner Square Podcast, the lads were quick to hail the performance of Illan Meslier: “He’s going to be the next big goalkeeper that the top six want to try and get,” said Max.

“He’s outstanding and I think he’ll be next in the poaching line. Hopefully our plans to get in to Europe will convince him to stay.

“The expectations for him were low but he’s come in and done fantastic.

“He’s won us points all over the place and kept plenty of clean sheets. Think of the game against Arsenal or the one against Sheffield United.”
