NEWS ROUNDUP: Transport jobs travelling to Leeds and Debenhams plans update
The Department for Transport has announced plans to create a new "northern hub" in Leeds, creating 650 roles between here and another new site in Birmingham.
It’s part of the governments aims to relocate 22,000 civil servants out of London by 2030.
Early plans to convert Debenhams on Briggate into student flats have since been described as “positive and creative” by Leeds City Council planning chiefs. As this was for a pre-application, no decision was made on the plans but more detailed proposals are expected to be submitted by the developers in the coming months.
