SWARCLIFFE MACHETE ATTACK: Teen’s hand chopped off
16/04/21 | Leeds machete attack: A man has been charged following a brutal machete attack in which a teenager had his hand chopped off.
George Johns, 24, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm and one count of violent disorder.
He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning.
Johns was arrested on Tuesday night on suspicion of attempted murder after an 18-year-old man was attacked with a machete in Swarcliffe, Leeds.
Detectives from Leeds District CID are continuing to carry out enquiries into the incident and are appealing for witnesses.
A Section 60 order, which gives officers additional stop and search powers to check people for weapons, was extended for 24 hours yesterday and remains in place.
It covers an area of east Leeds encompassing Harehills, Gipton, Halton Moor, Swarcliffe and adjoining areas either side of the A64.
