NATIONAL NEWS ROUNDUP: Taliban urge the West to withdraw from Afghanistan AND Love Island winners announced

Now let's take a look at the most up-to-date news stories from England and Wales including Boris asks Biden to keep US forces in Afghanistan, milkshake shortage for McDonald’s, and the Love Island winners announced.

AFGHANISTAN LATEST: Britain may have to withdraw support and evacuation efforts from Afghanistan. Boris Johnson used a G7 meeting to ask US President Joe Biden to push back the withdrawal of American forces from the end of the month. Now, the Taliban have said there would be consequences if western forces remain in the country, warning a further extension would create mistrust.

An extension to the deadline for pulling out remaining troops from Afghanistan to allow evacuations to continue is “unlikely”, the Defence Secretary has conceded ahead of emergency talks with Joe Biden.

Ben Wallace expressed pessimism on whether the August 31 withdrawal date will be put back as he cited the US President’s reluctance and warnings of repercussions from the Taliban.

MCDONALDS: Fast food giant McDonald's has run out of milkshakes and bottled drinks in all of its UK restaurants due to supply chain problems. A spokesman reportedly said the group is "working hard to return these items to the menu". It comes after Nando's had to close some of their branches last week due to similar issues with supply chains driven by a lorry driver shortage.

A spokesman said the group is “working hard to return these items to the menu”.

He said: “Like most retailers, we are currently experiencing some supply chain issues, impacting the availability of a small number of products.

“Bottled drinks and milkshakes are temporarily unavailable in restaurants across England, Scotland and Wales.

“We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank our customers for their continued patience.”

LOVE ISLAND WINNERS: And finally - The seventh series of ITV2’s Love Island has come to a close. Millie and Liam were the ones to be crowned the winners and took home an equal share of the fifty thousand pound prize fund. The show's host Laura Whitmore promised those already missing the show, it'll return in twenty twenty two, helping another batch of singletons find love.

The fashion buyer’s administrator from Essex, 24, considered splitting from the bricklayer from Wales, 22, after he was unfaithful while in rival villa Casa Amor, but the couple reunited to win the £50,000 prize money.

They beat Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran in the final two, while Teddy Soares and Faye Winter came in third and Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank placed fourth.
