BURNOUT BUSTED: Tyler Roberts ensures Leeds finish in the top half
Leeds United secured themselves a top half finish as goals from Patrick Bamford and Tyler Roberts saw them win 2-0 against Southampton.
Bamford struck his 16th goal of the season 17 minutes from time before Roberts scored his first ever Premier League goal in stoppage time to secure all three points for the visitors.
The 8,000 strong crowd at St Marys saw two of England’s Euro hopefuls do battle, as Danny Ings went up against Patrick Bamford, with both hoping for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad.
The victory takes Leeds up above Arsenal and Everton into eighth after an extremely impressive first campaign back in the top flight.
Tyler Roberts and Patrick Bamford
Roberts impressed in his performance having had a difficult season, and his manager addressed this after the game: "I was happy he scored because he had played many games and hadn't managed to do it,” Bielsa said post-match.
"The team in the second half looked a lot more like the team that it is.
“As for Patrick, he had a very generous performance with a lot of effort and he's had a season in which he's shone. I'm sure he'll be very positive about the campaign he's had, be what may.
"Everything he's achieved this season is because of the dedication and effort that he's put in to show off his abilities."
