LACK OF PASSION: Everton lose ground in European battle with loss against Burnley
Carlo Ancelotti's Everton fell five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea with a 2-1 defeat at home to Burnley.
Chris Wood gave the visitors the lead after Tom Davies was dispossessed in the Everton half.
What followed was a stunning goal from Burnley midfielder Dwight McNeil.
Receiving the ball under pressure, he sent Allan in a different direction and opened up space for a shot.
His effort flew into the top corner, past the fully stretched Jordan Pickford.
Speaking of Pickford, he left the game injured shortly before the break.
Dominic Calvert Lewin did get a lifeline for Everton after half an hour or so.
A drilled cross from Davies was met by the Blues number nine as he beat Nick Pope from a few yards out.
Everton couldn't find another goal to get them back in the game and lose ground in their chase for Europe.
It may be Europa League or bust for Ancelotti's side unless Chelsea slip up and they capitalise.
