RESILIENT: Wales boss happy with the contribution of Kieffer Moore
Rob Page was happy with a point as Kieffer Moore put in a spirited performance upfront in Wales' opening match of Euro 2020.
After falling behind, it looked as though Wales would start their competition with a defeat, but Page has praised his players ability to thrive in the face of adversity: “To get off to a positive start was important for us,” he said.
“I’ve said to the players, that’s the foundations now. If we have to dig a trench and put our tin hats on at times we will do it and we proved we can do that as well as play.
"It feels like a win in the changing room. I am so proud of the players. We got a little bit of luck towards the end but that is the start we are after."
In his post-match press conference, Page praised Moore after he was targeted by the Swiss' backline: "I've been very impressed with Kieffer throughout his entire time playing international football.
"He's got a great touch for a big lad and he's a willing runner and when you combine those attributes it's always going to be a recipe for success. His link-up play was very good and he deserved his goal today.
"They recognised that we were hitting Kieffer and so they put Xhaka in front of him to make it harder. We responded well though and we started to come out and play."
